About Me

My photo
I am a native of Arkansas, but now reside in Georgia. I love the Razorbacks. I love the south. I love sitting on the screened in porch sippin' lemonade. I love every shade of lipgloss on earth. I love bright colors. I love laying in the hammock listening to the birds and in the same breath I am terrified of birds! I love pedicures with cajun shrimp nail polish in the summer. I love listening to babies laugh. I love the smell of laundry detergent. This blog is all about cooking, crafts, decorating, my journey to getting into shape, and anything else I can think of! Thanks for stopping by!

{White} I Heart Faces Challenge

This is my best friend's beautiful child Brynn! Last winter they got over 18 inches of snow in a night and I was snowed in at their house. She ran outside and I was snapping pictures of her. I love this one because she wasn't even posing and looks so innocent!

Fall=Football

I LOVE FALL! It satisfies all my senses.
Smell: Apples and Cinnamon
Touch: Sweaters, Scarves, and Boots
Taste: Chili, Pot Pie, and Apple Cider
Sight: Pumpkins and Changing Leaves
Sound: Arkansas Razorback Football.....Wooooo Pig Sooie

That's right, it's finally time for football! Next weekend is the first Razorback game of the season! Make sure you have your kids prepared in their Razorback gear. The best way to do this is with Sew This Is Love! She can customize pretty much anything you want and ships all over the US. Of course she can create other teams as well, but who would want that!

Check out the cute Hog apparel she created below.

Day 8 of 30 Day Challenge {Favorite Food}

I have a lot of favorite foods, but today I narrowed it down to a grilled cheese sandwich. Adding avocados and using havarti cheese makes it even better! YUM!

Day 7 of 30 Day Challenge {Landscape}

Unfortunately I was really busy today so all I got was a picture of some of the landscaping in front of our house. It happens to be a pretty simple plant, but it's my favorite because I love the purple and green together!

Maude Shoppe {Senior Styles}

Maude Shoppe is a unique and affordable clothing, shoe, and accessory boutique in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Jena Anderson, marketing manager, has put together some beautiful outfits that are perfect for your senior pictures. She is also offering 15% off any one regular priced item if you have your senior pictures done by Holly Brooke Photography, so get on it and book today! If you don't live in Fayetteville, that's okay because you can email them at shoppe@maudeboutique.com, message them via facebook, or call 479-935-4700 and still get 15% off!

Take a look at Jena's styles below on the beautiful Chloe. Click on the picture to enlarge it.

Every senior needs one casual picture that reflects your personal style. We liked the simplicity of a tank, jeans and sandals. The flowy, sheer top helps dress it up a bit, and the patterned sandal adds a little spunk! Again, we re-used these fabulous earrings. There is no need to have a completely different outfit head to toe for each picture. Buy items that you can mix and match!

The emerald is again a color that works great regardless of your hair color or skin tone. It would look stunning on a red head, as well as brunette. This dress is also great because of its versatility. Wear it for your senior pics, to a wedding in the summer, or pair it with a blazer and tights for a more professional event. To save a little money, we paired the same shoes with this look. Again, elongating those legs!

These colors are flattering on any hair color and any skin tone and help to flatter all body types. The color blocking helps cinch in the waist. Not to mention the cut is super fun. We imagine a few cute pictures looking over your shoulder! Oh, and the shoes. Nude shoes such as these help flatter the body as well, elongating the leg.

Day 6 of 30 Day Challenge {Shoes}

I love a shoe that can tell a story! These shoes had a story before I even got them! I went to an antique store just to look around. I walked into one of the booths and these Frye boots were sitting there for $35! Yes, $35!! I tried them on and they were a little to big, but for $35 who cares! So I bought them and wear them with 2 pairs of wool hiking socks and they fit perfect! I love my boots!

Day 5 of 30 Day Challenge {Something that annoys you}

This was an easy one! This cat annoys me more than probably anything in the world. She lays on your computer, she meows at the door to let her in and then she is right back at it meowing to let her out, she throws up on my Pottery Barn rug! My husband thinks she is the greatest thing since sliced bread so of course that makes it even more annoying!

Day 4 of 30 Day Challenge {Animal}

For my animal picture, I took a picture of my niece with her two new animals! She got Sebastian and Flounder in the mail today for her upcoming birthday from papa and lulu (My dad and Stepmom) She hasn't put them down!

"Pets" I Heart Faces Challenge

This week's I Heart Faces Challenge is pets. These are some kitties that I met when I was in Italy over the summer. Aren't they the cutest things you have ever seen!

Day 3 of the 30 Day Challenge {Someone You Love}

It was pretty darn easy to decide who I was going to choose for the "someone you love" day of the challenge. I happen to love this guy more than any person on this earth, so he was an easy choice! :) This is my hubby on the Toccoa River.

Day 2 of 30 Day Challenge {Something Green}

I wasn't able to post this yesterday because we spent the weekend at our cabin and have no internet access up there. For my "something green" picture, we drove to one of the many apple orchards in the North Georgia Mountains.

Day 1 of 30 day Challenge {Friend}

Today is the first day of my 30 day photo challenge and the subject I had to photograph was a friend. I photographed Dom. When I moved to Atlanta in 2003, I worked with Dom's mom at an orthodontic practice. At the time he was only 16 years old. Now he is all grown up and I work with him at topsOrtho. He has a passion for photography as well.

What to Wear for Senior Pictures: Roswell/Woodstock Addition

A new school year has begun. That means it's senior picture time for a lot of boys and girls. There are a few things that a girl stresses about her senior year 1.) College 2.) What am I going to wear for senior pictures!

Honey Butter is a new boutique in Roswell, GA right behind Taco Mac. (There is one in downtown Woodstock, GA as well) They always have the cutest clothes. This is a great place to shop for senior pictures. Everything is very vibrant and will make your pictures pop! Remember, your parents will have your senior picture blown up above the mantle until you are in your 30's (or later!) so choose your outfits with care! Honey Butter is the perfect place to do it!

"Beautiful Eyes" I Heart Faces Challenge

This week's I Heart Faces Challenge is beautiful eyes. This angel, Miller, has some of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. He was only here for a short 87 days, but he made a huge impact on everyone I know. I will never forget him or these beautiful angel eyes. Click on the photo to see it larger.

Local Business of the Month: The Fickle Pickle

"Can I have the Grouper Sandwich with the Caribbean Clam Chowder please?" That's pretty much what I say every time I walk into The Fickle Pickle. Although everything I have tried is amazing, I keep going back to that Caribbean Clam Chowder. The broth is made of saffron, coconut milk, and orange juice. I have tried over and over to recreate it, but just can't get it right! I was told tonight that they get death threats when they don't have it! I can totally understand that.

Fickle Pickle has such an awesome atmosphere. The restaurant is inside of an old victorian style home from the 1800's. It's on Canton Street in the lovely Historic Roswell. You can sit inside one of the many rooms or outside on the front or back porch. When you walk in, you go straight to the counter to order. Above the counter are chalk boards filled with delicious goodies. Anything from their Asian Salmon Salad to a Brie BLT to their Pimento Cheese and Bacon Mac and Cheese Bowl. I happen to think their hamburger is the best I have found in the Atlanta area. They rate their dinner sandwiches based on how many napkins it will take!! And of course you have to try out their famous fried pickles and hot potato chips served with blue cheese dip! And what's the most important thing of all....DESSERT! They know how to do dessert right! Carrot cake cookies, toffee bars, and red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing oh my! Check out their unique menu!

The staff is the friendliest around. Tonight they brought us our own citronella candle since we were sitting outside and they were always right there to refill our drinks.

Kids eat free on Tuesday nights and Wednesday nights are 1/2 price bottles of wine!

Not only is this an amazing restaurant, but it is an awesome venue. They have a barn behind the house that hosts pretty much any event. From a baby shower to a rehearsal dinner. They also cater and I can't think of a better place to cater an event...YUMMY!

Check out North Fulton Shops for a coupon! Make sure you pick up a Fickle Pickle card. They stamp it each time you come in!

The Fickle Pickle is open:
Monday 11am - 3pm
Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 9pm
Closed on Sundays

The next to photos are of the barn that you can host events in!

Make Your Pictures POP with Ruche

If you can't tell from my logo, I LOVE COLOR! One of my all time favorite online boutiques is Ruche. It's very inexpensive and the quality is great! Below are a few items to make your photos POP! Adding splashes of color in the form of accessories is an easy way to bring an outfit together! Click on the pictures to make them larger.

What to Wear!

With the fall season approaching, there will be lots of photo sessions going on. The biggest question I get is not only what should I wear, but what should we ALL wear! I have a section on my website that covers this, but I thought I would give some examples as well. The clothes below can be found at Target and Old Navy. You shouldn't have to break the bank to find cute outfits! Click on the picture below to see a larger version of it.

A wonderful story that beautiful baby Miller's Momma wrote about him was featured in Peekaboo Magazine. I was so excited that they used 3 photos that I took with Miller gear on! Make sure you pick up a copy! You can purchase Miller gear at Bella Jack's Children's Boutique in Fayetteville. Please check out Miller's websitehttp://www.imwithmiller.com/and his facebook pagePrayers for Baby Miller. What a wonderful impact this child has made. We love you Miller and we are ALWAYS with you!
